The Gunners were far behind in every department, with goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga making a particularly egregious error in Man City’s opener, and attacking players such as Bukayo Saka, Kai Havertz and Victor Gokeres not making enough contributions.

Nico O’Reilly scored both of City’s goals to lift the trophy, but few would argue they didn’t deserve the award.

Read our reviews of Arsenal players and their reviews on performances that many of these players will soon want to forget…

Arsenal vs Manchester City player ratings

Kepa Arrizabalaga – 2/10 – Unfortunately, we were not satisfied with our handling of the ball, and unfortunately we were always prone to making mistakes, but in the end, we made a mistake by failing to react to the cross that led to the opening goal. It’s certainly the end of him starting big games for Arsenal.

William Saliba – 7/10 – He is probably the only Arsenal player to get as much credit, as he silenced Erling Haaland so well that it’s hard to find anything wrong with him on this day.

Gabriel Magalhães – 6/10 – While not the worst player on the pitch, he lacked his usual composure on the ball, making it difficult for Arsenal to build up from the back.

Ben White – 4/10 – Ben White has performed admirably for most of his Arsenal career, but it’s perhaps easy to see why Julian Timber is the clear first choice now that he’s fit. Jeremy Doku ran White ragged for much of the match, but felt Timber could have done a little better to keep the City winger quiet.

Clown Hincapie – 4/10 – Like his opponent White, it was a truly unconvincing display from Pierrot Hincapie. The Ecuadorian international was unable to cope with Antoine Semenho and perhaps should have been replaced earlier with Riccardo Calafioli.

Martin Zvimendi – 5/10 – The pace is a little off and he’s not able to control the midfield to the best of his ability. Martin Zvimendi may be tired more than anything after starting so many games in what has been a very competitive season for Arsenal.

Declan Rice – 6/10 – He worked harder than many of his team-mates, but could not bring the quality he was capable of.

Kai Havertz – 4/10 – It was clear that he probably wasn’t fit enough to start in such a big game. Kai Havertz has a role in this Arsenal team and is out with injury, but Eberechi Eze was clearly starting and would have definitely had more of an impact had he been fit enough.

Bukayozaka – 3/10 – This was far from enough for Bukayo Saka, considering he was Arsenal’s captain on the day and is Arsenal’s highest paid player. The England winger has been largely unremarkable all season and has not looked good for himself for most of this season. It’s pretty unacceptable for him to come out and play in such an important game like this.

Leandro Trossard – 4/10 – He’s been pretty quiet, as he’s been for a while now. For some reason, he was not replaced by Gabriel Martinelli until the final stages.

Victor Gokeres – 4/10 – He worked hard and caused some problems for City with his early moves, but you would expect more from a marquee striker signing for a major cup final.
