Andy Robertson posted an emotional message on Tuesday to Mohamed Salah, who announced he would be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season.

The ‘King of Egypt’ shocked the football world this summer by confirming he had reached an agreement with the club to end his contract a year early, bringing an end to his legendary nine-year spell at Anfield.

Andy Robertson posts heartfelt message to Mo Salah

Robertson, who joined Liverpool in the same 2017 summer transfer window as Salah, paid tribute to the defender on Instagram.

The Scottish captain hailed Salah as “the greatest” and highlighted the relentless standards the forward sets for the rest of the team.

He posted the following message on Instagram:

“Thank you Mohamed. It has been the best nine years of our lives, with great memories on and off the pitch. It has been a joy to watch and be a part of watching you become the best at what you do and become one of the greatest to ever wear a Liverpool shirt.”

“Your mentality is second to none and people will take notice. You push yourself every day and always demand more from yourself and others.

“It’s been a pleasure to share the pitch with you for so long, but it’s even better to call you a friend.

“You deserve a sending off that reflects your status in LFC – the best. Second to none 🇪🇬👑”

Robertson could also leave at the end of the season.

Robertson’s post focused on Salah’s achievements, but the veteran left-back could leave at the end of the season.

Robertson’s current contract has expired and reports say the club have no plans to extend it.

The 32-year-old is challenging for a starting role this season following the £40m signing of Milos Kerkes from Bournemouth.

Robertson has started just six Premier League games this season and has been heavily linked with a return to his boyhood club Celtic or a move to Atletico Madrid.

There was a chance to leave in the summer, but Robertson opted to stay on from Tottenham in January to watch out the season.

With the possible departures of Salah and Robertson, the 2026 summer window will definitively end the era that brought Liverpool their first Premier League title and sixth Champions League trophy.
