Norwich City are looking to bring in a new centre-forward this summer and have identified a target who has been in great form in recent weeks.

Norwich eye new striker to replace Sargent

Josh Sargent ended up joining Toronto FC after the English transfer window closed, but was criticized by fellow player Brad Friedel for the way he approached his move to MLS.

Friedel said: “I’m going to say this: Josh is a nice guy, a really good guy. I don’t think he should ever say he’s not going to play. That’s bad. I don’t know if he was encouraged to do it or if he did it himself. It’s a bad decision. I would never do that.”

“I understand why he did it. I understand what his end goal is going to be. But just like I didn’t agree with the way Isak worked in the summer, I don’t agree with him telling the club he’s not going to play. Once he’s on the team sheet, he’s going to play. For me it’s very simple.”

The Canaries have not called up Sargent but have managed to surge up the Championship table in recent weeks, winning five of their last six league games.

It may be too late for Philippe Clement’s side, who are nine points adrift of the play-offs with seven games remaining, but their recent form certainly bodes well for next season.

Norwich eye on signing in-form striker

According to a report from Sports Boom, Norwich are eyeing the signing of Huddersfield Town striker Joe Taylor, who is currently on loan at Wigan Athletic and is in excellent form, scoring three goals in his last three League One games.

The Terriers are open to offers for Taylor this summer, with a number of interested parties, with Preston North End and Oxford United also mentioned as candidates.

Kasper Hogg is a target for the Canaries’ top striker, but Bodau/Glimt are willing to pay a higher fee to sign him on the back of his impressive performances in the Champions League.

Jovon Makama has been a regular on the scoresheet this season, scoring 13 goals in 31 games in all competitions, but the Wigan loanee has been even more prolific, receiving praise from journalist Pete O’Rourke for his influence since January.

The 23-year-old has found the back of the net 16 times this season, surpassing Makama, and has impressed throughout his time in the EFL, scoring 12 goals in 27 games for Colchester United and 10 goals in 19 games for Lincoln City.

Taylor could now be ready to test himself at a higher level and following Sargent’s post-window departure, Norwich will need to bring in a striker this summer.
