Manchester United are set to enjoy the summer and are in talks to bring the former Manchester City attacker back to the Premier League.
Manchester United hold contract talks with former Man City star
A lot can change in the Premier League. It wasn’t that long ago that Manchester United were miserable under manager Ruben Amorim and were doomed to miss out on Champions League qualification.
They are currently flying under Michael Carrick and are on course to finish in the top three. To say the interim boss has done a fantastic job would be a huge understatement.
Cunha’s dream contract: Manchester United begin contract talks with Barcelona superstar
Manchester United could help Matheus Cunha improve his game by making a key summer signing.
However, it remains to be seen whether INEOS will decide to give him a permanent position. Names such as Roberto De Zerbi have been mentioned as potential options ahead of the summer, with the Italian having been a free agent since leaving Marseille in February.
Meanwhile, whoever arrives will likely receive support from INEOS in the transfer market. The Red Devils have already set their sights on an ambitious move to sign Sandro Tonali from Newcastle United, making him their top target.
It looks like the Newcastle star could be at the heart of Man United’s rebuild, but that’s not the only thing they have their eyes on this summer.
INEOS is in a spending mood and is also turning its attention to Spain. According to TeamTalk, Man United have been contacted by Ferran Torres’ agent about a possible transfer and have entered into negotiations to sign him.
The former Man City forward has struggled to break into the starting XI at the Camp Nou and is considering his future as a result.
16-goal Torres could end Amad’s Manchester United career
After signing Benjamin Sesco, Matheus Cunha and Brian Mbeumo in the summer, Man United could add the finishing touches to their attacking rebuild by bringing in the versatile Torres.
The Barcelona man can lead the line or play wide and has done that to great effect in Spain this season, scoring 16 goals in all competitions. On paper, he would be a great signing and an upgrade over Amad Diallo, who is already struggling for game time as it stands.
25/26 League Statistics | Torres | Amado |
|---|---|---|
begins | 19 | twenty two |
the goal | 12 | 2 |
assist | 1 | 2 |
Dribbling success P90 | 0.29 | 1.69 |
Opportunities are born P90 | 0.98 | 1.78 |
Amad’s chance-making and dribbling numbers are impressive, but they don’t translate into final results. Torres, on the other hand, has been clinical and Man United need that if they are to have any shot at winning titles in the coming years.
The 26-year-old, who was described as “incredible” by manager Josep Guardiola during his time at Man City, could have the chance to go one better than he did at Old Trafford next season.
