  • Crystal Palace keep tabs on Liam Rosenier as Oliver Glasner’s successor
  • Rosenia, job safe for now despite nightmarish shape

Crystal Palace are reportedly keeping a close eye on Chelsea’s deteriorating situation, with former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown revealing the Eagles are “long-time fans” of Blues head coach Liam Rosenior.

Despite only taking over at Stamford Bridge in January, Rosenior has faced intense scrutiny following Chelsea’s dismal performance which has seen them miss out on the Champions League.

Brown said the Selhurst Park hierarchy had tracked Rosenior’s progress since his time at Hull City and his success with Strasbourg in France.

If the 41-year-old falls victim to Chelsea’s ruthless management cycle, Palace are expected to be at the forefront of his duties.

In an interview with Football Insider, Brown stressed that despite the recent “slump at Stamford Bridge”, Rosenior’s reputation among football insiders remains strong.

Palace manager Oliver Glasner has officially confirmed that he will step down at the end of the season, and the search for his replacement is well underway.

“Obviously Liam Rosenior is feeling a bit of pressure.

“If he were to be released by Chelsea, Crystal Palace would be looking at him because they are long-time fans of him, even before he came to Chelsea.”

“Everyone I talk to at Hull City speaks very highly of the way he plays under him, the organization and the way he interacts with the players.

“I had heard nothing but praise about him as a manager before he went to Chelsea, but the results may not have been what they expected.

“From Crystal Palace’s point of view, that’s a good sign because he’s also highly regarded in France and there are people at Palace who like him.

“If he were to leave Chelsea, they would keep an eye on that and I’m sure he’s someone they would be considering as an option to replace Glasner.

“Palace are certainly paying attention.”

Rosenia, job safe for now despite nightmarish shape

Pressure is mounting on Rosenior after losing four consecutive games in all competitions, including a disastrous 8-2 aggregate defeat to PSG in the Champions League.

Domestically, Everton’s 3-0 drubbing saw the Blues drop to sixth in the Premier League standings.

However, reports suggest that Chelsea bosses are now willing to give Rosenior at least one full season in charge before conducting a formal performance review.
