Tiger Woods has been involved in multiple car accidents. On Saturday, NBC Sports mixed up two of them.
The error occurred during the network’s studio broadcast before the third round of the Texas Children’s Houston Open, which included a reference to Friday night’s incident in which Woods was arrested for drunk driving. Instead of footage from the recent accident, NBC aired footage from the Southern California accident that attracted Woods’ attention in 2021.

Later in the broadcast, as the final group of the day was completing 14 holes, lead play-by-play announcer Dan Hicks stepped in to make an on-air correction.
“We want to take our time and make modifications,” Hicks said. “Prior to today’s broadcast, our studio accidentally ran the wrong photo of Tiger Woods’ car accident. It was another previous car accident. It was not the correct one, and the latest one from yesterday. We apologize for that and want to correct it before moving forward.”
The broadcast team didn’t cover Woods’ latest developments at the top of Saturday’s coverage, but it made headlines when lead analyst Kevin Kisner, who plays with Woods on the TGL team, gave a somber response to the news.
“It’s very disturbing,” Kisner said. “He’s been working really hard on his game, practicing and trying to get back in shape. Yesterday he signed up for the U.S. Senior Open. He was trying to do whatever he could to get back, try to help our TGL team, get ready and hopefully try for the Masters. It was a real bummer.”

Kisner said the “only positive thing” was that “no one was injured in this incident, so we can all move forward and hopefully help him recover.”
Woods was arrested on Jupiter Island just before 2 p.m. Friday after he tried to pass a work truck on a two-lane road near his home. His Range Rover clipped the back of the truck’s trailer and rolled onto its side. There were no injuries in the incident. However, Woods was able to escape from the car through the passenger side, but was later charged with DUI with criminal damage to property and refusing to submit to a legal test.
