Manchester United are close to finalizing their manager at Old Trafford, with INEOS set to hire one candidate this summer after negotiating with two others.

Manchester United hold talks with two managerial candidates

The Red Devils are set to enter the summer as a Champions League team and could end up finishing third in the Premier League this season. A far cry from the depths to which they were plunged during Reuben Amorim’s disastrous regime in charge.

Old Trafford officials will be hoping this is a sign of things to come as they look to hire a new permanent manager this summer. It’s a decision Man United have made wrong many times in the past before facing disastrous consequences. But this time, they have plenty of options to fall back on.

He is the man in demand…

Recent reports suggest that intermediaries have offered both Unai Emery and Luis Enrique to Man United ahead of the summer, with an external approach rather than the club itself.

Both would be great appointments. Emery, who transformed Aston Villa, still has something to prove at the top club after struggling at Arsenal in the past.

Enrique, on the other hand, is one of the best managers in the world. He finally turned Paris Saint-Germain’s fortunes into European royalty, winning the Champions League as part of last season’s incredible treble.

However, according to The i Paper, Enrique would prefer to extend his stay at PSG rather than completing a move elsewhere in the near future, which would be a huge blow to United.

Sadly, even if Enrique stays at PSG, Man United look set to hire a great replacement option this summer.

Manchester United are ready to hire Michael Carrick this summer

As reported by TeamTalk, INEOS are poised to hire Michael Carrick this summer and make his interim job permanent. The 4-2-3-1 manager impressed the Man United bosses not only with his performances on the pitch, but also with his leadership and composure in technical areas.

Some have drawn comparisons to Ole Gunnar Solskjær’s interim reign before he struggled to become a permanent manager, but there is no denying that Carrick has impressed.

He has lost just once in 10 games, beating both Pep Guardiola and Mikel Arteta. It’s almost perfect, and INEOS has been given no reason to end his tenure this summer.

Carrick has also received support from club legends, with Wayne Rooney saying earlier this month: “100% he should (get the job).

“We knew this was going to happen with Michael Carrick. I know him very well, I know his character and his character. You need a calm head, but you need someone who knows the field. The players needed love and he gave it to them.”

“I’ve seen the players playing better quality and coming together more as a team. We look like a very strong team. Why change?”
