The 28-year-old has starred at St James’ Park in recent years and has recently been linked with a move to Manchester United.

It is not clear how specific or advanced the move to Manchester United is, but Fabrizio Romano confirmed in a YouTube post that the Red Devils recently met with Guimarães’ agent.

Still, Guimarães does not appear to be close to leaving Newcastle for now, only hinting that he would like to return to Brazil at some point later in his career.

Bruno Guimarães hints at future transfer

Guimarães has admitted that he would like to play for either Atlético Paranaense or Vasco da Gama one day.

In the video clip below, quoted by the SEAL Gazette, Guimarães is asked about having a Vasco shirt in his home and replies, “Vasco gave me this (shirt). It’s a gift. Vasco gave me this (shirt).”

When asked about playing for Vasco in the future, he added: “Oh, I really want to do that. If I go back to Brazil, it will be Athletico or Vasco.”

While this is a pretty clear hint about Guimarães’ long-term plans, it doesn’t necessarily tell us much about what he can do this summer.

A move to United would certainly be attractive for him, but Newcastle would also not be easy for any suitor.

Guimarães is a hugely important asset for NUFC, who will need to avoid another tragedy like last year when they lost star player Alexander Isak to Liverpool.
