Spurs have made initial contact with those close to Salah to register an interest in him, and the 26-year-old is understood to be keen on a return to the Premier League.
Other clubs are also monitoring Sala’s situation and you can see the full list in my Daily Briefing report here.
Salah was previously a target for Aston Villa, but that did not materialise, and it appears he is no longer a priority for Unai Emery’s side.
Explaining the transfer situation of Gabriel Sala
Galatasaray do not want to sell Salah this summer after he has been in great form this season, but it is generally thought that he will be released for around €45 million.
It is not yet clear whether that is the amount Spurs want to sign him for, but Spurs have begun exploring a deal for the former Norwich player.
Feelings appear to be positive, with Salah understood to be keen to return to England even if it means sacrificing Champions League football at Galatasaray for clubs such as Tottenham, who will not be in Europe next season.
There is no guarantee that THFC will stay that way, as they currently sit perilously close to the relegation zone.
Tottenham assess transfer
Still, Tottenham have plans for their goals if they maintain this form, and the north Londoners are perhaps more confident of avoiding a slide following the appointment of manager Roberto de Zerbi.
One imagines that Spurs may have a target in mind in case they play Championship football next summer, but for now Salah is one of the key players Spurs are keeping an eye on, which shows their ambition and confidence in what they can do this summer.
