Manchester United gave INEOS a huge boost this summer, giving them the chance to sign the Aston Villa star.

Aston Villa star has secret ‘understanding’ to leave this summer

There is plenty for those at Old Trafford to be optimistic about this summer. They are on track to qualify for the Champions League and finished third in the Premier League. An impressive performance considering Ruben Amorim’s disastrous tenure.

If Champions League football is secured, much of the credit will rightly go to Michael Carrick. The interim boss has been as close to perfect as possible since his arrival, losing just once in 10 games.

While he may not be good enough for a permanent job, Carrick has turned Man United’s season around in quick succession and has certainly done no harm to his managerial career.

Carrick could be replaced by Julian Nagelsmann, who joins the club this summer. The German manager has the World Cup to contend with first and foremost, but if the Old Trafford manager approaches him he could make a major decision about his future.

The impressive 38-year-old is sure to be backed by a move at Man United. INEOS has already set its sights on signing Sandro Tonali and others, and is planning a comprehensive reinforcement program this summer.

Desire to join: Manchester United aims to upgrade Cunha, “players like Amad and Mbeumo”

He’s in great shape this season.

Their main focus appears to be poaching Premier League talent, in a similar way to last summer when Brian Mbuemo and Matheus Cunha arrived from Brentford and Wolves respectively.

If that turns out to be the case, the Red Devils could be able to make the most of their recent updates.

According to The Sun, Manchester United have been given the chance to sign Morgan Rodgers from Aston Villa, with England international Rodgers in secret ‘agreement’ with Villa bosses and Unai Emery to let him leave if a big offer arrives.

£80m Rodgers will change Manchester United

Both the player and the club reportedly feel that this summer is the right time to make a move, but it could depend on Aston Villa’s finances.

The Athletic’s Jacob Tanswell recently revealed that the Villains are once again facing financial constraints related to the new SCR (Squad Cost Ratio) rules, and that selling Rodgers is the easiest way to alleviate those issues.

The England international, who is valued at £80m by those in the Midlands, has reportedly agreed a deal with Aston Villa that will allow him to move if the deal suits his ambitions and the club’s circumstances, giving the likes of Man United the chance to pounce.

It’s easy to see why Rodgers is eyeing a big move. The versatile midfielder has scored 10 goals and provided seven assists in all competitions this season, and could surpass Real Madrid’s Jude Bellingham as a candidate to start for England this summer. That’s his level these days.

It remains to be seen whether Manchester United will get the chance to take advantage of Villa’s SCR problems, but he is certainly someone to keep an eye on.
