Chance Taylor is far from your typical golf content creator. He even admits that he used to make fun of people who post golf content online. That all changed when his first TikTok received 1 million views and 10,000 followers. Now married and a father, Chance has turned his unique brand into his own business.
During The Players week this year, I had the chance to meet Chance at a Callaway golf shoot and offered him a little challenge. Can he hit all 14 clubs in his bag to a 140-yard par 3? Along the way, I stopped to ask Chance a few questions about how to get started with golf content and what to do with the equipment in your bag.
“It was an accident,” he said of his beginnings. “I actually used to make fun of people posting content because I never understood it. One night I was bored and I said, ‘Let’s post a TikTok.'” The next morning I woke up with about 550,000 views and by the end of the week I had about 10,000 followers. ”
Jake talks to Chance about how his club ended up in his bag. As it turns out, the answer is very simple. golf
A former professional golfer, he became a full-time content creator after a friend told him he could make money doing this. He is now married and a father, and enjoys being able to travel with his family and being “a father first and a content creator second.” He is also currently an ambassador for Callaway Golf, has just about 60,000 followers on Instagram, and plays golf in his signature boots, camouflage cut-off shorts, and usually a cut-off T-shirt. Although far from the typical golf creator, he is followed by one of the best.

What’s in the bag of golf’s simplest creator?
When it came to talking about his bags, it was mostly about simplicity. I don’t really take offense to Chance because he’s a very good golfer, but one thing we’ve talked about a few times is that he can hit the ball high. This is also relevant to my game and something I talked about in my Fully Fit travel content. It’s much easier for me (and Chance) to use equipment to start the ball high and then use skill to lower the distance than it is to push the ball up as needed.

For a one-two punch at the top of the bag, Chance plays Callaway’s Quantum Triple Diamond Driver and Elite Mini Night Edition. The former has around 320 yards per carry, while the latter drops to 285 yards. It’s rare to see Chance aim for a full send other than off the tee. Mini also allows you to create some shots.

In my competition, he barely missed the 140-yard green with his driver, but pulled the Mini to about 3 feet.

Talking about the Callaway Apex UT: “I’ve never been able to get my driving irons up in the air the way I wanted to. I was hitting Dalton (Joyce) with the (Callaway) Super Shot and I was just launching it to the moon, so I talked to old Johnny Thompson and we built it.” Opportunity never changes. It never changes.

“I don’t know, but I’ve seen some tour guys start doing it. I’ve never tried it before. I’ve been playing with anything from a blade 4-iron to a pitching wedge. It’s a little easier to get these up in the air.” I suggested to him that he might want to play a full set of Callaway TCB irons, but I’ll get an update from Chance in the future to see what kind of twists I put into it.

By the way, from the successful mini-driver shot to the 11-iron, the only time Chance missed was the 7-iron. “Yeah, shoot,” Chance would say.
Next, finish off the bottom of the bag with a Callaway OPUS SP wedge that has been given the full Anthony Tarrant treatment.

This wasn’t my idea, but I’m really glad I did it. Chance really wanted to hit this green with his putter. Odyssey Ai-One #7 to be exact. He pointed out that he wasn’t at all worried about hitting his tee shot full distance because it wasn’t rolling very well at the time and he was going to get a new putter anyway. Chance made full use of the tin cup on this shot, hitting seven shots before taking his final shot with his putter stuck about 15 feet above the green to see how much sidespin he could put on the ball. The answer is, according to Bushnell Launch Pro? 5300rpm.
