The Reds are set to say goodbye to Salah, with Michael Oliseh considered one of the main candidates to replace him, but perhaps the deal will look a bit unrealistic.
Gerrard is a big fan of Olise but also admitted he would be happy to see Liverpool re-sign Luis Diaz from Bayern Munich.
The Colombian international has been outstanding since leaving Liverpool to join Bayern last summer, so it’s a bit puzzling that the Merseyside giants let him go.
Steven Gerrard misses Luis Diaz at Liverpool
We imagine many Liverpool fans are starting to wonder why the club let Dias leave, but Gerrard says he will miss the 29-year-old, who had an impressive 23 goals and 14 assists in all competitions for Bayern this season.
As quoted by Metro, Gerrard spoke about Olise’s relationship with Liverpool, saying: “The question is why would he (Oliese) leave Bayern? Big clubs are challenging for big honors and they are probably the strongest.” bayern munich A team I haven’t seen in a while.
“He is about to take world cup by storm Summer is coming. He seems like a really happy kid and calm, but I don’t see him going anywhere.
“But yeah, would I love him at Liverpool? And you know, I wouldn’t mind Diaz coming back. I miss him, I miss him.”
Luis Diaz vs Liverpool’s other attacking players
Dias was a key performer for LFC and it seems clear by now that he could have been Salah’s ideal successor.
See below for how his numbers compare to Arne Slot’s current offensive players…
| Full comp statistics for 2025/26 | game | the goal | assist |
| Luis Diaz | 40 | twenty three | 14 |
| mohamed salah | 35 | 10 | 8 |
| Hugo Ekitike | 43 | 17 | 5 |
| cody steele | 42 | 8 | 4 |
There’s probably not much of a chance for Liverpool to bring Dias back now, as Bayern will certainly do everything in their power to keep him, but it’s another major transfer mistake alongside the huge sums they spent on failures like Alexander Isak and Florian Wirths.
