BBC sports commentator Paul Robinson named Liverpool goalkeeper Giorgi Mamadashvili his man of the match despite the Reds losing 2-0 to PSG in the Champions League quarter-finals.
On a night when Arne Slott’s defensive tactics were brutally dismantled at the Parc des Princes, Georgia’s shot-stopper stood as the last line of resistance, preventing the scoreline from becoming a repeat of the 4-0 humiliation suffered against Manchester City a few days earlier, or even longer.

Robinson plays Giorgi Mamadashvili MOTM
Appearing on BBC Radio 5 Live after the final whistle, Robinson insisted the 25-year-old is the only reason Liverpool still have a glimmer of hope ahead of next Tuesday’s second leg at Anfield.
Robinson said:
“Liverpool were exposed too many times defensively. For me, goalkeeper Giorgi Mamadashvili was man of the match. Based on that performance, we have a lot to do against a very good PSG team.”
Mamadashvili vs. PSG performance in numbers
Mamadashvili, who replaced the injured Alisson Becker, faced a relentless barrage from the reigning European champions.
While Liverpool’s attackers failed to register a single shot on target, the Georgian was busy for the PSG side, registering 18 shots on target.

His standout moment came late in the first half, when he denied Doué a second goal with a superb one-on-one block and made a flying save to deny international teammate Hviča Kvaratschelia’s curling shot.
Kvaratskheria eventually cut the lead past the keeper to two points in the 65th minute, but Mamadashvili’s resilience, including a crucial stop from Ousmane Dembele in the final 10 minutes, kept the gap at two points.
The Georgian will have to be at his best again if Liverpool are to pull off a miraculous comeback in their return fixture at Anfield.
