Tottenham are the frontrunners to sign Liverpool star Andy Robertson this summer after it was officially confirmed that he will leave Anfield at the end of the 2025/26 season.
According to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, Spurs are in “pole position” to sign the 32-year-old on a free transfer, but the deal is conditional on the north London club retaining their Premier League status.
Robertson, who has been a key figure in Liverpool’s success for nearly a decade, has chosen not to extend his contract, bringing an emotional end to his nine-year spell on Merseyside.

Tottenham are currently the favorites to win the title, but they face a major hurdle. Spurs, who currently sit in 17th place, just one point above the relegation zone, must avoid dropping into the Championship if they are to make a final move.
Ornstein said the foundations for the deal were laid during a period in January when Spurs tried unsuccessfully to bring the Scottish player to the north London club.
Robertson has chosen to watch out the season at Anfield, but the lure of a new challenge in London keeps Spurs at the front of the pack.
But they’re not alone in that pursuit. European powerhouses such as Atletico Madrid, Napoli and Juventus are also monitoring the situation.
There have been rumors of a return to Scotland with his boyhood club Celtic, but the player is said to be leaning towards remaining in Europe’s top flight.

Robertson’s departure marks the end of a legendary chapter at Liverpool. Since joining from Hull City for £8 million in 2017, the Scotland captain has won every major trophy, including two Premier League titles and the Champions League.
With 373 appearances, 13 goals and 69 assists, he goes on to become a Liverpool legend.
The timing of the announcement comes amid a turbulent season for Liverpool, with 15 defeats in all competitions.
With Mohamed Salah also confirmed to be leaving the club and Milos Kerkes gaining support from Arne Slott, Robertson admitted it was the right time to take the next step. In his farewell message, Robertson said: “I have given my heart and soul to this club for nine years.”
“I know football moves forward, and I think now is the time to go anywhere with the next move.”
