Spurs because of Arthur Vermaelen
According to FussballDaten, Tottenham are aiming to bring him to the Premier League and are preparing an offer of £25m to seal a deal. Marseille have the option to sign the player at the end of the season, but it is unlikely to be exercised due to financial constraints.
The Belgian midfielder will return to RB Leipzig at the end of the season. However, he does not appear to be an important player for them and the German club are willing to sanction his departure for a fair price. It would be difficult to refuse an offer from Tottenham.
It remains to be seen whether all parties will be able to reach an agreement.
Vermaelen is keen to reunite with his former manager and could be an important player for Tottenham next season.

Spurs could use Vermaelen
They need more control and dynamism in the middle of the park and Spurs believe he can contribute at both ends of the pitch. Additionally, they are looking to sign a central midfielder with game intelligence, passing quality and resistance to pressing. They believe the Belgian midfielder is the right fit.
He has the technical characteristics and physicality to succeed in the Premier League and regular football at Tottenham could help him develop further. Vermaelen has provided two assists in all competitions and can play as either a defensive midfielder or a central midfielder.
