Alex Manninger’s career

Manninger is perhaps best known in England for playing for Arsenal in his youth and playing a key role in their 1997-98 back-to-back winning seasons.

Despite not being particularly well-known prior to his arrival, Manninger produced a series of strong performances late in the campaign when called upon to replace the injured David Seaman.

Manninger remains fondly remembered by Gunners supporters for his contribution to the club’s success in the Premier League and FA Cup that season, and they will no doubt be shocked to hear of the popular former player’s death.

The former Austrian international also played as Liverpool’s reserve keeper in the 2016/17 season and has also made his mark at various Serie A clubs, including Juventus.
