LIV Golf is powering up in Mexico City this week despite major concerns over its future.

In a major blow to the league, LIV Golf could soon lose funding from Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF).

It comes just four years after its creation in 2022 and could also have a major impact on the PGA Tour, with many players leaving to join LIV Golf.

However, Alexis Ohanian has just reminded golf fans of his successful deal with TMRW Golf League (TGL) and revealed that another venture has joined the conversation.

Reddit co-founder Ohanian sent a timely reminder about his investment in Los Angeles Golf Club.

Ohanian posted to X: “When I bought my first TGL team, I distinctly remember the responses from people who told me I was doomed to fail because LIV would crush them, and that I was an idiot for buying my first team, LAGC.

“Don’t worry. I saved some of the tweets.”

And he shared some of the archived messages sent to him at the time, one of which read, “This is going to be an epic bomb. No one is going to watch the pros play simulator golf.”

A similar comment read, “This would be a complete disaster. Watching someone hit a ball into a simulator is one of the most boring things I’ve ever done.”

And another of his followers said to him: “It will fail!”

Ohanian only recently saw LAGC win the 2026 TGL title, and it is clear that he currently enjoys a clear advantage in the discussion.

In this year’s final, golf legend Tiger Woods defeated Jupiter Links GC, which was playing after returning from injury.

Ohanian is clearly confident in the long-term future of TGL, which started in 2025 and returned for a second season earlier this year.

The Indoor League was founded by Woods and Rory McIlroy and consists of six teams of four PGA Tour players each, with a seventh team confirmed for the 2027 season.

Its success, held at Florida’s SoFi Center, has inspired a women’s edition, which WTGL is preparing to host in the winter of 2026-27.

And since Ohanian is also an investor in Los Angeles GC Women’s, she will be keeping a close eye on the event.

Interestingly, the LAGC investor is joined by his wife, Serena Williams, and her sister, tennis legend Venus Williams.

Also participating are NBA superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo, LPGA ace Michelle Wie West and soccer icon Alex Morgan.
