  • Marco Rose appointed as new Bournemouth manager
  • Rose’s impressive European portfolio

Bournemouth have reached an agreement in principle to appoint former Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig manager Marco Rose as their new manager following the shock announcement that Andoni Iraola will leave the club this summer.

The deal is expected to be completed before the end of the current campaign and will see the 49-year-old German take the reins at the Vitality Stadium in June.

Iraola, who led the Cherries to a club record points total last season, confirmed earlier this week that he would be stepping down at the end of his contract to pursue new challenges.

Marco Rose appointed as new Bournemouth manager

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealed the south coast club made a determined move to sign Rose ahead of other candidates including Ipswich Town’s Kieran McKenna.

An Italian journalist posted on X:

“Bournemouth are set to appoint Marco Rose as their new head coach from June. An agreement has been reached with the former RB Leipzig manager to replace Andoni Iraola next season. Rose has agreed terms with #AFCB and the deal is expected to be approved shortly.”

The appointment is a significant statement of intent from the Bournemouth leadership, led by director of football operations Tiago Pinto.

The signing of Rose, who has been a free agent since leaving Leipzig in March 2025, allows the club to avoid lengthy fee negotiations and immediately start planning for the 2026/27 season.

Rose’s impressive European portfolio

Bournemouth have appointed a manager in Marco Rose, who has a distinguished career in Europe’s most competitive environments.

Known for his heavy metal style of football, characterized by high pressing and quick transitions, Rose is seen as the ideal successor to continue the progressive approach started by Iraola.

Mark Rose’s achievements

Rose’s Champions League experience and track record of developing elite young talent were reportedly key factors in manager Bill Foley’s decision.

As Bournemouth aim for a top-half finish this season, the arrival of a ‘title-winning manager’ suggests the club are no longer content to remain in the Premier League and have their sights set firmly on a silver medal and European qualification.
