Bryson DeChambeau announced his withdrawal from LIV Golf Mexico City on Sunday morning ahead of the final round. DeChambeau cited wrist discomfort as the reason for his early exit. The two-time U.S. Open champion was 2 over for the tournament after three rounds, 16 strokes behind 54-hole leader Jon Rahm.

“During yesterday’s round, I felt some discomfort in my wrist and decided to withdraw from the final round of LIV Golf Mexico City to prevent further injury,” DeChambeau said in a statement on social media. “Well, whatever I was hoping for this week to go, I hope the Crushers do well. I’ll take a few days to get evaluated and get ready for the LIV Golf Virginia game.”

DeChambeau’s withdrawal came days after he disrupted course conditions at Club de Golf Chapultepec. DeChambeau’s rant in the first round, in which he quipped about Ruff, went viral on social media.

LIV Golf’s next event is scheduled for May 7-10 at Trump National DC in Sterling, Virginia. The tournament, the league’s first to be held in the United States in 2026, is an important part of players’ preparation for the second major championship of the season, the PGA Championship, which will be held the following week.

Despite his second straight victory at LIV Golf, DeChambeau was surprisingly absent from the Masters over the weekend due to two triple bogeys stemming from none other than greenside bunker issues. The American will first try to get fit and then hone his skills before the PGA Championship, where the golfing world gathers at Aronimink Golf Club.

DeChambeau has finished in the top five in four of his past five PGA Championship appearances, including back-to-back runner-up finishes to Xander Schauffele at Valhalla and Scottie Scheffler at Quail Hollow.
