Man City vs Arsenal player ratings
Gianluigi Donnarumma – 6.5 A mixed bag for Italians. They had good control in their area for most of the match, but a crucial mistake allowed Kai Havertz to equalize just 90 seconds after City had taken the lead.
He made up for it in the second half by denying Arsenal with some sharp saves, especially in a one-on-one with Havertz in the second half.
Matheus Nunez – 6.5 Reliable and hardworking. Although he didn’t grab the headlines, his ability to break through Arsenal’s initial press and get the ball through allowed more creative players to find space.
Abdukkodir Kusanov – 8 The young Uzbek defender still looks like the best player of the decade. He made a goal-saving block against Havertz in the 72nd minute, which was as impressive as the goal itself. He is fearless even in duels against Arsenal’s physical front line.
Marc Gehi – 7.5 Guehi continued his form following his dominant performance against Chelsea. He was the leader of the backline, making several important interceptions and organizing the defense against Arsenal’s late surge.
Nico O’Reilly – 9 Building on his heroics in the Carabao Cup, the youngster showed maturity beyond his years. He was heavily involved in the goal, running under the lap and eventually firing a cross that found Haaland.
Bernardo Silva – 7.5 In one of his final appearances at the Etihad, Silva looked his usual tireless self and was everywhere. Whether pressing deep into Arsenal’s own half or helping Kusanov double up on the wing, his work rate was essential in neutralizing Arsenal’s wide-ranging threats. His experience was crucial when the game got heated.
Rodri – 7.5 The heartbeat of the team. He adjusted his tempo and saw long-range shots deflected away. His physical presence in the box also proved important for Haaland’s winners in distracting defenders. He was injured late in the game and had to be sent off, which will be a blow for City.
Rayan Cherki – 8 The creative brilliance of the city. Cherki took the lead with some great individual skill, slipping through Arsenal’s defence, and calmly finishing. He has always been a thorn in the side for the Gunners and was City’s main source of attacking threat.
Antoine Semenyo – 6.5 He brings energy and physicality to the right wing. They had a great chance in the first half, but it was thwarted by Hincapie. His off-ball work rate helped Nunez’s defense.
Jeremy Doc – 7 He terrorized Arsenal’s full-backs with his explosive power. It was his clever inside passes that unleashed O’Reilly and led to a series of winning goals. He lacked the finishing touch at times, but his gravity always dragged defenders out of position.
Erling Haaland – 8 When the time is right, the Vikings will come. After a physical wrestling match with Gabriel during the match that ended with him literally tearing Gabriel’s shirt, Haaland subdued the Brazilian and slotted home the winner in the 68th minute. Pure strength, pure clinical finish.
With this victory, the title fight is in jeopardy. Currently, they are only three points behind the league leaders with a game remaining. If they win that, they will be tied on points. City have experience in getting through the final stages. It all depends on whether Arsenal can withstand the pressure.
