HOUSTON — There will be a new but familiar face in the Chevron Championship booth this weekend, as Kara Banks has been named the lead play-by-play voice for NBC Sports’ LPGA coverage.
Banks will begin Saturday’s third round of the LPGA Major at 1 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock, with the final round scheduled to be called Sunday at 2 p.m.
This is Banks’ first call to Chevron, but she served in a play-by-play role multiple times last season, including lead-in coverage of the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions, the Mizuho Americas Open and the U.S. Women’s Open. She also worked the booth at the 2021 ShopRite LPGA Classic.

Banks will join analysts Morgan Pressel, Tom Abbott and Paige McKenzie in a press conference at Memorial Park Golf Course in Houston. Jim “Bones” McKay and Emilia Dolan will provide on-course reports and Amy Rogers will conduct interviews.
Banks, a mother of three, once said: golf week She says her career inspiration came from Davina McCall, a British presenter who became famous for hosting the TV series Big Brother.
“I loved how it felt like she was talking to you,” Banks said. Although he studied politics at Newcastle University, his first job was as a tea-maker for a Saturday night chat show.

But Banks realized early on that sport was better for him than entertainment, and the 6-foot-1 netballer, who grew up in a golfing family, took a job as a production secretary for European Tour productions at IMG.

In 2015, Banks joined Golf Channel as co-host of “Morning Drive,” and later served as studio host for the “Golf Central” and “Live From” shows at the game’s biggest events.
In addition to his work as a reporter for NBC Sports’ PGA Tour coverage, Banks recently served as the alpine ski reporter at the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics.
