Chelsea’s turmoil to replace Liam Rosenior may be trickier than it seems…

Chelsea are reportedly already facing potential problems over replacing manager Liam Rosenior.

Speculation is growing that Rosenior’s short tenure as manager at Stamford Bridge is nearing the end after a disastrous performance that all but ended the club’s hopes of qualifying for next season’s Champions League.

At the time of writing, Rosenior has not been officially sacked, but BBC Sport and others have reported that the Blues may make changes.

However, the Telegraph reports that while Chelsea would like to bring in a more experienced player, they are currently struggling to convince the manager of the level they want him to take over.

Who could replace Liam Rossenia as Chelsea manager?

The report states that Chelsea could make some changes to their approach this summer when it comes to signings and who they choose as their next manager.

Under this ownership, the focus has been on young people and building long-term projects, but it is clear that this is not working at all.

According to the Telegraph, there appears to be some openness to changing the approach and at least bringing in a manager with more top-level experience than Rosenior and his predecessor Enzo Maresca had when they arrived.

Reports have mentioned the names of Xabi Alonso and Andoni Iraola, but there is certainly no guarantee that they will see this and be ready to take the risk when other big jobs may be available.

Cesc Fabregas’ name has also been mentioned, and although he is a former Chelsea player, he is similarly inexperienced as he has yet to coach a team in the Premier League or Champions League.
