Speaking to Rio Ferdinand on his YouTube channel, Pogba singled out Maynou as a player he really wants to see play for the current Red Devils.

Pogba, who spent two spells at Man United, including from 2016 to 2022 when they won trophies such as the Europa League and League Cup, said he would like to see Maynou have a successful career at Old Trafford.

Pogba said: “He (Mainoo) is a very talented kid. He’s still young but very talented. I love watching him play.”

“I hope he has a great career at Man United.”

Mainu has risen to prominence since breaking into United’s first team and shares many similarities in his playing style with the younger Pogba.

The 21-year-old England international is not yet a finished product but shares some of Pogba’s traits, including his silky touch and confidence on the ball.

However, it was interesting to hear more from Pogba in the interview as he admitted he should have done more during his time at United.

Paul Pogba’s struggles after leaving United

Pogba left United when his contract expired in 2022 and returned for a second spell at Juventus, where he first established himself as one of the world’s best midfielders.

Still, his second spell was less impressive and he ended up leaving the club after being suspended for doping.

Pogba currently plays for Ligue 1 side Monaco, but has only appeared in four games since joining.
