Arne Slott is currently urging Liverpool to sign Napoli defender Sam Beukema this summer in a bid to finally work with a player he has admired for many years.

Things are looking up for slots. The defeat against Paris Saint-Germain and its outcome threatened to end the Dutchman’s playing days at Anfield, but then Liverpool got some much-needed results.

Luis Dias repeats: Liverpool are confident of signing Premier League ‘monster’

Liverpool are hoping to poach one of their Premier League rivals’ top summer targets.

Saturday’s win against Crystal Palace wasn’t exactly routine, but the Reds are back in the top four with three games remaining. And if they beat Manchester United at Old Trafford next weekend, they have the chance to move into third place on goal difference.

Having achieved fifth place, good enough to qualify for the Champions League, Liverpool certainly have their destiny in their hands. From Slot’s point of view, and perhaps from the point of view of the rest of Anfield, he would just want to get over the line and forget all about the current campaign.

His focus is already on the possibility of a new summer release. Offensive targets like Eli Jr. Crupi have emerged in recent weeks, as have targets Slott would like to pursue elsewhere.

According to TeamTalk, Slott is currently lobbying Liverpool’s bosses to sign Sam Beukema from Napoli this summer. The Dutchman has been a fan of the defender since his days with the Go Ahead Eagles and was finally able to acquire his player after many years.

Of course, the Reds will need another centre-back if Ibrahima Konate leaves as a free agent. Although that seems unlikely at this stage, the concern still exists while the Frenchman has yet to put pen to paper on a new contract.

Beukema believes Slot is “one of the best”

It hasn’t been Konate’s best season, to say the least. The Liverpool defender has disappeared from Real Madrid’s radar thanks to his form alone, leaving his future at Anfield in doubt. That has raised serious questions, but Boukema is yet to provide answers with his arrival on Merseyside this summer.

The Napoli man already has fans in the slot and after playing against the Reds in Bologna last season, he revealed what he thought of the Liverpool manager.

“In my opinion, he is one of the best managers in the Netherlands and in Europe. After the Champions League game against Liverpool, he praised me and the team and said: “It’s unbelievable to be competing at this level.”

Bouquema, who is valued at £30m by Napoli, has not made the impact he had hoped at the Italian champions’ home base, starting just 16 times in Serie A so far this season.

Liverpool are favorites to sign new Isak for £69m

Liverpool could sign a big-money striker in the summer.

If he wants to be a permanent starter, there is a serious argument that the Dutchman needs Liverpool as much as Liverpool need him if Konate leaves.

The praise from Slott is already clear, and it will be a move that will work for all parties this summer.
