Aston Villa hope to sign Manchester City goalkeeper James Trafford at the end of the season.
Emiliano Martinez is rumored to be leaving the club, with Football Insider claiming Aston Villa are seeking the 23-year-old Manchester City star to replace him. Trafford has struggled to secure regular minutes at Manchester City and needs to leave in order to play regularly.
Trafford is also rumored to be linked with Liverpool.

James Trafford needs a move
Aston Villa will give him the platform he needs. They believe he is a “young top goalkeeper” who could be an asset to the club in the long term. Trafford has been praised by manager Josep Guardiola as “fantastic”.
The 23-year-old would also be attracted to the idea of a move to the West Midlands club. In addition to regular opportunities, he will also be able to compete at a high level. Aston Villa are aiming to qualify for the Champions League next season. They have quality players and a quality manager at their disposal. A move to the West Midlands club could bring out the best in him and encourage further development.
He has made just three Premier League appearances for Manchester City this season but will be desperate to get his career back on track.

Trafford could be the ideal replacement for Martinez
Martinez has been exceptional for Aston Villa over the years, but he is 33 years old and the West Midlands club will need a quality long-term replacement.
Investing in Trafford would be a wise decision. He was named goalkeeper of the year in last season’s Championship and proved his quality in the Premier League. Given regular opportunities, he could develop into one of the best goalies in the country.
Regular football with Aston Villa will also help him cement his place in the England national team. It remains to be seen whether Aston Villa can agree a deal with Manchester City.
