Arsenal are in contact with Real Madrid striker Endrick with a view to signing him, and manager Florentino Perez’s position on allowing him to leave the club has been made clear.
Gunners look to new forward as they extend lead over Man City
The Gunners’ 3-0 win at Fulham on Saturday moved them six points clear of Premier League leaders Manchester City, but Josep Guardiola’s side still have two games in hand.
Goal difference could therefore be very important by the end of the season, which is why it was important for Mikel Arteta’s side to secure a big win against the Cottages with Victor Goqueres scoring the second goal either side of Bukayo Saka’s goal.
Gökeres has scored 21 goals in 50 games in all competitions, a decent result considering he was making his debut for Sweden at the Emirates Stadium.
Former Manchester United star Wayne Rooney later praised Joe Keles’ performances during the campaign, saying: “His minutes per goal is right up there. The players under him, Sesco, Ekitike, Welbeck, have had great seasons. So his minutes per goal ratio is very good and I think he was a very important signing for Arsenal.”
However, TEAMtalk reports that Arsenal are looking to bring in a new striker this summer and that investigations are underway into signing Endrick from Real Madrid.
However, the Gunners did not get the response they had hoped for. La Liga club president Florentino Perez is believed to be a big fan and had no intention of allowing him to leave.
The 19-year-old returns from a loan spell with Lyon next season and is expected to force his way into Madrid’s plans, having scored four goals and provided six assists in 13 Ligue 1 games.
Palmeiras’ former sporting director João Paolo Sampaio also waxed lyrical about the teenager.
“If injuries respect him, I don’t see his limits, as far as humanly possible. He has quality, a strong personality and a champion’s mentality. In that respect, he is similar to Cristiano (Ronaldo).”
“He trains hard and has a kind and humble personality. We love him so much because he loves himself. He strives to please those around him. He has everything to be a world star.”
As a result, Arsenal may have to move to other targets in the attacking area, with Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen being an option, and manager Andrea Berta has already held direct talks about signing the Nigerian player.
The Gunners have also entered talks to sign Atletico Madrid star Julian Alvarez, who scored the team’s only goal in the 1-1 Champions League semi-final draw earlier this week.
