There is still plenty of excitement at Old Trafford after Manchester United secured a thrilling 3-2 victory over Liverpool, making their return to the Champions League next season official.

It was a traditional, high-octane Premier League fixture, but amid the massive celebrations, Old Trafford fans were thrown into a moment of complete panic.

Bruno Fernandes is a player who rarely misses a moment’s play, but he was unexpectedly substituted in the final stages of the game.

Fans immediately feared the worst considering how important the Portuguese maestro is to the team.

In fact, Fernandes was so badly bruised that he was seen limping away from the grueling challenge before the break.

In typical Warrior fashion, he gritted his teeth and played on the right wing until stoppage time, pushing his body to the limit and ensuring United cruised through to a chaotic 3-2 victory.

However, interim head coach Michael Carrick was quick to quash any lingering injury concerns in his post-match comments.

Carrick downplayed the substitution, claiming that he did not pull Bruno off because he had lost the previous knock.

Rather, it was a purely tactical move aimed at bringing on defender Lenny Yolo and securing the all-important three points.

“Honestly, there was about a minute left and I wanted Lenny to be on the pitch.” Carrick said, as reported by the Manchester Evening News.

“Obviously Joshua was in, Paddy was in, Amad was in, but nothing else.”

Carrick continues to impress at Old Trafford

Interim manager Carrick has successfully steadied the ship and returned the club to Europe’s elite competition.

With their captain fully committed to the cause and their return to the top flight, the Red Devils can finally dream of another great night in Europe under the Old Trafford lights.

Fernandes will be aiming to break the Premier League’s single-season assists record and get maximum playing time in the remaining games.

The Portuguese midfielder has provided 19 assists so far this season and needs two more to surpass Arsenal legend Thierry Henry and Manchester City icon Kevin De Bruyne for the most assists in a season.

Manchester United’s final three games of the season will be against Sunderland, Nottingham Forest and Brighton.
