Everton are preparing to offer to re-sign the former player but will face stiff competition from Premier League rivals Fulham.

Everton make summer plans as European dreams flicker

David Moyes has spent much of this season deceiving expectations and leading Everton into real competition in European football.

The ambition is real, the progress is tangible and Monday’s performance against Man City, which saw the title-chasers lead 3-1 with less than 10 minutes left before holding them to a 3-3 draw at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, was a display that encapsulated both the promise and frustration of this Toffees side.

Everton are in 10th place, three points behind seventh-placed Brentford, with three games remaining.

Their form has been sluggish in recent weeks, with stoppage-time winners conceding successive goals against both Liverpool and West Ham, and City’s draw, which was tantalizingly close to the outcome of keeping European qualification alive, had an equally heartbreaking ending.

He was a bricklayer until just seven years ago.

Merseyside can still advance to Europe, but they cannot afford to make any more mistakes.

Moyes himself admitted the team is still a work in progress, with the team’s rebuild expected to take a further two summers to complete, with behind-the-scenes focus already turning to identifying the right reinforcements to take the club forward into next season.

Everton preparing to re-sign Isaac Price with hopes of signing Fulham

According to SportsBoom, one of those names is West Bromwich Albion’s Isaac Price, and there is a personal aspect to the move that Moyes cannot overlook.

Price came through Everton’s academy before departing for Standard Liège, and it is understood the club are preparing an offer built around a ‘homecoming’ story as they see the 22-year-old as someone with genuine links to the club.

The former Everton product has been one of the Baggies’ standout performers this season, establishing himself as an integral part of West Brom’s midfield with his energy, passing width and ability to contribute in both directions.

He has also established himself as a key figure in the Northern Ireland national team, adding an international dimension to his profile and further increasing his appeal at Premier League level.

West Brom consider him untouchable in principle and have been their most successful recent signing since signing him from Liege in January 2025.

Blom will have all the leverage in negotiations as his contract runs until June 2029 and there is no termination clause.

Everton aren’t the only ones chasing them.

Fulham are expected to make a move for Price soon after the season ends, with sources saying Marco Silva’s side are expected to make an opening offer of £10.5 million plus performance bonuses, but that package is unlikely to meet West Brom’s demands.

Crystal Palace and several newly promoted clubs are also monitoring the situation.

The appeal for Everton is clear.

James Garner has been exceptional this season, but Moyes will be looking for competition and depth in a midfield that has at times lacked dynamism.

It remains to be seen whether talk of a return home will be enough to knock Fulham out of the race.
