Newcastle United’s Anthony Gordon has emerged as a top target for a number of clubs, with one club finally making a move to sign him.

German giants Bayern Munich have officially opened club-to-club negotiations with the Magpies over a blockbuster summer move for 25-year-old England international Gordon, according to Sky Sports journalist Keith Downie.

With Gordon reportedly keen to explore his options ahead of the 2026/27 season, Newcastle bosses have indicated they are open to lucrative offers, setting the stage for a high-stakes bidding war.

Bayern Munich have made the first official move, but it will take a huge amount of money to lure Gordon away from St James’ Park.

Newcastle United will demand a premium

Further reporting from Germany, including an update from Sky Sports’ correspondent Florian Plettenberg, indicates that Newcastle’s starting capital request remains around the €90 million mark.

Realistically, a compromise could be reached in the range of €75 million to €85 million (including performance-related add-ons).

For Newcastle, securing such a large fee would dramatically alleviate any lingering Profitability and Sustainability Regulation (PSR) concerns and potentially fund the acquisition of several high-profile players as they look to revamp Eddie Howe’s squad.

However, Bayern Munich are not the only heavyweights circling the dynamic forward. Arsenal have also named Gordon as their top target for the summer window.

Bayern Munich will face Arsenal

The Gunners are reportedly happy with his £75m valuation and are keen to add his relentless pressing, speed and direct attacking power to Mikel Arteta’s frontline.

This strong domestic interest greatly complicates Bayern’s pursuit and could prompt them to accelerate negotiations to avoid losing out to the north London side.

The German giants have been eyeing Gordon’s talents for a long time and have finally made their move ahead of other interested clubs.

There is a feeling at St James’ Park that Gordon is ready to leave the club and explore new opportunities in his career. At Bayern Munich, he can compete for the biggest honors in the game and take his career to the next level.
