NEWTON SQUARE, Pa. — Not to get ahead of ourselves here, but… Rory McIlroy called off Tuesday’s practice round at the PGA Championship after just three holes. He may have relapsed from the blister that caused him to limp after the Tourist Championship in Charlotte two days earlier. A photo of McIlroy on the Aronimink course showed him without his right shoe.

“I’ve got a blister on my pinky toe on my right foot,” McIlroy said on Sunday, before adding a chilling line: “But it’s under my nail. So I can’t reach that far. So it hurts a little bit, but I’m fine.”

McIlroy arrived at Aronimink on Monday night. He played the course two weeks ago but has yet to complete a practice round this week. He did not discuss the health of his foot at a press conference early Tuesday.
McIlroy, aiming for his second straight major and third PGA Championship, is scheduled to tee off at 8:40 a.m. Thursday with Jon Rahm and Jordan Spieth.
