NEWTON SQUARE, Pa. — The 2026 PGA Championship enters its moving day with 36 holes of pristine golf remaining at Aronimink Golf Club, a rarity in the major rotation. The action continues on Saturday, with reductions already in place, leaving 82 golfers in the field. The surviving players will be further narrowed down to the list of legitimate candidates by the end of the day, and a limited group will be chosen to compete for the Wanamaker Trophy and the second major championship of the year on Sunday.
Scottie Scheffler entered the field as the favorite to win, and after 18 holes he improved his odds and remained in the lead despite entering the third round two strokes behind the co-leader. The names at the top aren’t the most star-studded, but the first two pages of the leaderboard are lined with a long list of candidates vying for position as Aronimink’s intensity gradually increases.
There’s so much to follow this week that it can feel overwhelming at times. Don’t worry.
