Tennis player Corentin Moutet gets booked for pulling down his shorts in frustration after losing a point

It is not uncommon for tennis players to faint during a match. Arguments with referees, broken rackets, and tennis balls flying into the stands are standard actions of frustrated players.

But Corentin Moutet decided on Monday to take things to a whole other level. During the match against Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, Mutet pulled down his shorts after conceding a goal.

It was…a strange moment for everyone involved.

So what exactly is the punishment for a player who pulls down his pants during a match? In this example, Moutet was given an unsportsmanlike conduct warning for his actions. Given the circumstances, Mr. Moutet may have been lucky that his punishment was not more severe.

Oddly enough, this isn’t the first time a tennis player has lowered his pants on court. The same thing happened in 2004, but it was to celebrate points.

The man found guilty in this match was Marat Safin.

Safin was given a one-point penalty for this gesture. Despite this, he ultimately won the match and advanced. Asked about the situation after the match, Safin asked, “What’s wrong with[pulling down his pants in celebration]?”

If Moute has any chance of repeating this strange behavior, we’ll have to wait until the next event. Moute lost to Fokina 6-4, 6-4 on Monday. With this loss, Moutet was eliminated from the Hamburg Open.

With this win, Fokina will advance to the round of 16 where he will face No. 3 ranked Alex de Minaur. I hope both fighters keep their cool and wear shorts for this match.
