According to X’s team of journalists, Man City are currently planning an emergency meeting to persuade Guardiola to make a U-turn and remain at the Etihad Stadium.

The Spanish tactician has enjoyed great success at City since taking over in the summer of 2016, winning six Premier League titles, the Champions League and a number of other major accolades.

Manchester City aims to keep Pep Guardiola

Much has been written about Guardiola’s future in recent days, with BBC Sport claiming that sources are certain to step down and be replaced by former Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca.

Still, there is a possibility that MCFC will try to turn the situation around, and although there has been no official announcement from the club or the manager himself yet, a statement is likely to be released within the next 48 hours.

“Exclusive: Pep Guardiola emergency meeting. “This morning, Manchester City’s owners held serious last-minute emergency talks with Josep Guardiola in an attempt to persuade him to stay for another season,” the team of journalists wrote.

“It was intense. Just last week, Pep made the bombshell that he wanted to leave. Now the club is scrambling, hoping for a miracle that he might change his mind. They are expected to release a statement in the next 48 hours clarifying their plans for him, but to be honest, unless the unthinkable happens, it looks increasingly likely that Pep will leave.”

What’s next for Manchester City?

Although nothing has been officially announced yet, it appears that manager Guardiola has already decided to leave the club, and that a contract with Maresca is almost finalized.

However, a late change of heart cannot be ruled out, especially with a slightly unpredictable personality like Guardiola.

This was also famously witnessed previously by Manchester United’s legendary former manager Sir Alex Ferguson, who was due to retire in 2002, but then changed his mind and stayed on as manager until 2013.

It will be interesting to see if City can retain Guardiola, but the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager could be ready to replace him after a difficult season.

Despite winning the Carabao Cup and FA Cup, City missed out on the Premier League title after drawing 1-1 with Bournemouth yesterday and losing to Arsenal.
