        • Their answer to Guardiola: Liverpool could hire ‘Europe’s youngest coach’

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has admitted he won’t be able to beat coach Arne Slott over the treatment of Mohamed Salah this weekend as he is not strong enough to oust the Egyptian international.

Salah’s social media posts on Saturday relied heavily on terminology associated with former manager Jurgen Klopp and barely contained any criticism of Slott.

He will play his final game for the club at home to Brentford on Sunday, a Premier League game that could decide the fate of next season’s Champions League, with Bournemouth technically still playing catch-up after their draw with Manchester City.

Carragher admits that the result of the match comes first, but Slott cannot risk further antagonizing fans who are disillusioned with the Dutchman’s tactics and the team’s poor performance and are firmly behind the Egyptian player.

“I don’t think managers should cut off their noses to disfigure themselves. If you want a result, you should always do what gives your team the best chance of getting a result,” Carragher told Overlap’s Stick to Football podcast.

“If he doesn’t need a result and Liverpool have already qualified, then it might be a different thing, but given the position that Arne Slott is in at the moment with the supporters, it’s very difficult not to give Mo Salah some kind of big red card.

“In some ways it’s almost impossible to win, if only he had a little more power.

“But if it was me and Arne Slott, if we had gotten a result[from Bournemouth]and qualified for the Champions League, I would have played a little bit more intelligently.”

It’s been a great summer for the Reds…

In a post on his social media, which was liked by many of his team-mates, Salah said he wanted Liverpool to return to being a “heavy metal attacking team”, a direct reference to Klopp.

“It is an identity that needs to be restored and preserved forever. It is non-negotiable and everyone who joins this club needs to adapt to it,” he wrote.

Scheduled meeting with Liverpool owner – Romano

Fabrizio Romano took to his YouTube channel to dispute reports that Liverpool owners FSG had canceled plans to meet Mr Slott in the coming days.

“Arne Slot has absolute confidence in his continuity, but we will have to wait until the end of the season review.

“There have been reports that there won’t be an end-of-season review, but that’s not the case. My understanding is that there will be an end-of-season review, but we’ll see what happens after that.”

Liverpool fans were further frustrated this week when it was announced that former Reds midfielder Xabi Alonso would be appointed Chelsea manager.

Alonso won the treble with Bayer Leverkusen, spent much of his playing career on Merseyside, won the Champions League in 2005 and was a popular player among Anfield fans.

Germany national team coach Julian Nagelsmann is also rumored to be moving to Liverpool.
