Arsenal and Manchester United are interested in signing Sporting CP midfielder Morten Hjurmand.
According to a report from Correio da Manha, two Premier League clubs are leading the race to sign him, with a potential fee of around £34m. The player’s release clause is set at double that amount, but the Portuguese club are said to be willing to sell him for a more reasonable price.
Yurmand has performed well for Sporting CP and could be a very useful option for Arsenal and Manchester United.
The 26-year-old Denmark international is a defensive midfielder who helps break up opposition attacks and control the tempo of games from deep positions.
Arsenal need a player like him and he could be the ideal upgrade to Christian Norgaard. They won the Premier League title this season and will be looking to build on that and further improve their team so they can conquer English football.
Yurmand will add extra physicality and defensive strength in the center of the park for Mikel Arteta.
Manchester United, on the other hand, need a replacement for Casemiro. The Brazilian has decided to leave the club and will need to find a quality replacement. It remains to be seen whether they will be able to get the 26-year-old to join the club. He was an Arsenal fan as a boy and has a Gunners tattoo. He could be tempted to join Arsenal instead if they offer him an attractive offer.
On the other hand, the asking price of £34m is reasonable for a player of his quality and experience. At that price he may prove to be a bargain.
