‘A lot of cheating…’: Jamie Carragher breaks Tottenham duo with diving

Jamie Carragher has accused Tottenham players Pedro Polo and Richarlison of cheating during a match.

Tottenham played against Chelsea recently and the Sky Sports commentator revealed that some players tend to go down easily, even if there was no serious contact. He named Polo as one such player.

Carragher said (h/t Chelsea Chronicle): “I said this about Mac Allister at Liverpool a few weeks ago and we saw it a lot in this game. Polo, we’ve seen it with Cucurela.

“The amount of cheats and players that go down when there’s nothing wrong with it is a joke in the Premier League. You just touch his face and he goes down. There’s nothing wrong with him at all.”

The former Liverpool defender claimed Tottenham striker Richarlison could also be sidelined as there was no actual contact.

His comments are unlikely to be received well by Tottenham fans, but there is no doubt that many players have been heavily criticized for their tendency to go to the ground after the slightest contact and force decisions on referees.

Diving in modern football has become a big issue in recent years, and Carragher can hardly be faulted for his comments.

The former Liverpool defender went on to criticize Marc Cucurella and Alexis Mac Allister as players who tend to make the most of diving contact.

Meanwhile, Tottenham lost their Premier League match 2-1 to Chelsea and are currently 17th in the league table. In order to survive, we need to win the final game of the season. It remains to be seen whether they can get their act together and produce a strong performance.
