Manchester United are currently in contention with Chelsea to sign West Ham United star Jarrod Bowen, with the forward likely available for a cut price if the Hammers are relegated this season.

Manchester United eyeing Premier League attackers

INEOS’ investments over the past 12 months have been very prudent. Man United didn’t just shell out big bucks on their nearest star name. Instead, they welcomed a proven Premier League star who offered them exactly what they were missing.

Brian Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha particularly stand out. The Brentford and Wolverhampton Wanderers duo were not Premier League stars when they arrived at Old Trafford, but they certainly made an impression outside of the top six. Now, a year on, they are enjoying a fantastic debut season at Man United.

With that in mind, it’s no wonder that INEOS is aiming for repeat customers. According to Germany’s Füssball Daten newspaper, Man United have entered the race for Bowen with the aim of one-upping rivals Chelsea, who are also interested.

If they are relegated this weekend, it is highly unlikely that the forward will remain at West Ham, potentially opening the door for a cut-price move for the Old Trafford players.

The value of the player, who was once valued at around £60 million, has fallen, which could immediately increase the chances of a direct return to the Premier League in the summer.

Man United’s first signing under manager Michael Carrick could be close to being completed.

With Champions League football set to return to Old Trafford next season, they could do with the out-and-out quality that Bowen will provide, and of course Premier League quality as well.

The West Ham captain has scored 64 goals for England’s first team over his career and has been preparing for a big move for some time.

‘Unbelievable’ Bowen could be selected again by Manchester United’s Cunha

Relegation or not, Bowen deserves a big move before his career in English football is over. His goals have lifted West Ham to heights that people didn’t believe were possible, but Man United could reward them once the summer transfer window opens.

Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is a particular fan of the forward, telling reporters: “Bowen, what a player he’s become! It’s unbelievable. We saw him at Hull as well and he was really good then. I don’t know if many people expected this jump, but he’s an unbelievable player.”

After being snubbed by Thomas Tuchel and left out of England’s World Cup squad, no one would blame him if he puts himself first this summer and avoids falling into the Championship.

Atalanta’s Ederson may be a more attainable target, but Manchester United could still look for an upgrade.
