Micky van de Ven has been linked with a move from Tottenham Hotspur, with clubs such as Liverpool and Manchester United mentioned as possible destinations.
The 25-year-old has had an exceptional run since joining the London club and is one of the best central defenders in the league.
Tottenham are battling to stay in the Premier League and the Dutch international could leave the club this summer. He will want to compete at a high level where he can win big trophies. Tottenham are not at that level at the moment and it remains to be seen whether Liverpool or Manchester United will come forward with an offer to sign him.
According to reports, the player would prefer to join Liverpool over Manchester United.
Manager Fraser Fletcher told TEAMtalk: “According to sources, if both clubs made formal offers, I would have no hesitation in choosing Liverpool over rivals including Manchester United.”
This growth will be a big boost for Liverpool, so it will be interesting to see if they make an offer to sign the player. They need to replace Ibrahima Konate, who will be a free agent at the end of the season. The France international has not signed a contract extension with the club and the club will need to fill his void.
Van de Ven is more than just a quality defender. His pace of recovery and composure on the ball will add a new dimension to Liverpool’s squad.
Liverpool have a strong Dutch squad, so it’s no surprise that players would want to join them. But he is an exceptional player and Tottenham will demand a premium for him.
