NEWTOWN SQUARE, Pa. — 156 players arrived at Aronimink Golf Club this week in hopes of hoisting the Wanamaker Trophy at the end of the 2026 PGA Championship and winning their second major title of the season. But after 72 holes, Aaron Rye stood tall as the first British man to win the PGA since 1919 and the first to win in the stroke play era of the tournament (since 1958).
Not only was Rye forced to lift golf’s biggest trophy, weighing 27 pounds, he also collected a hefty paycheck and effort.
The total prize money for the 2026 PGA Championship will increase to $20.5 million, an increase of $1.5 million from $19 million in 2025, marking the third consecutive year of increase (a total increase of $3.5 million from 2022).
The winner’s share jumps to $3.69 million in 2026, as Scottie Scheffler won his first PGA title last year with his win at Quail Hollow for $3.42 million. The top 10 all earned at least $553,000, and the top 33 each secured a six-figure salary.
All 82 players who earned money over the weekend will take home at least $23,900. Below is the full pay breakdown for each position in Aronimink’s remaining fields.
