Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg has shared an update confirming that Samuel Martinez has been signed by Liverpool and will undergo a medical before signing a five-year deal at Anfield.

Sky Sports’ widely respected German correspondent updated X and revealed that the next step for Martinez, who has also been scouted by Chelsea, is to complete his visa formalities before traveling to the UK for medical tests.

Once these formalities are completed, the young prospect will sign a five-year contract with the Reds, ensuring a long-term commitment to the club.

Plettenberg also shed light on the path Liverpool have planned for the teenager.

The plan is for Martinez to be integrated into the first team’s preseason set-up from the summer of 2027 onwards.

In the short term, his debut season in England is expected to be split between Liverpool’s Under-21s and the UEFA Youth League, allowing him to gain valuable experience of competitive football at a high level while continuing to develop.

The move demonstrates Liverpool’s continued commitment to identifying and securing talented young talent from across Europe before rival clubs make a move.

The signing of Martinez is part of a busy summer for Liverpool, who have already been active in the budding talent market.

The Reds appear to have almost finalized a deal for Samuel Martinez, and reportedly have interest in him as well. Kennett Eichhorn is a 16-year-old wonder.

According to Plettenberg, specific negotiations have taken place between Liverpool and Hertha BSC.

The signings of the two emerging stars show the club is looking to strengthen both its first-team pipeline and academy infrastructure ahead of the new season.
