Manchester United remain hopeful of signing Elliott Anderson this summer.

The 23-year-old defensive midfielder has been outstanding for Nottingham Forest and could be the ideal replacement for Casemiro.

Manchester United need players who can protect their defense and win the ball back in the middle of the park.

Anderson would be an unusual acquisition. He has shown his potential at Nottingham Forest and could play for a bigger club. Joining Manchester United could be exciting for him. However, Manchester City are reported to be the frontrunners to seal the deal.

We need more depth in the middle of the park. Rodri has been struggling with injury problems and Manchester City need another specialist defensive midfielder.

Fabrizio Romano says Manchester United have been in contact with the player about a possible transfer, but it remains to be seen how the situation will turn out.

Romano said of Anderson: YouTube channel: “Don’t forget that Manchester City are also continuing to push to sign Elliott Anderson from Nottingham Forest.

“They know Manchester United are still making calls, but Manchester City are still pushing.

“I said in March that they were always the favorite to sign Elliott Anderson.

“They have decided to do that. They want to offer the player a really important contract, so they have already taken some approaches.

“So I believe Man City can really seduce Elliott Anderson and that hasn’t changed, including Enzo Maresca. City are going to sign Anderson.”

“It’s not just Guardiola. Now that they have Maresca, City are still after him. Let’s see what happens at Nottingham Forest. Man Utd are still trying.”

Anderson is one of the best midfielders in the league and could be an asset for both Manchester clubs.
