Newcastle want Fabian Schaal new contract

The 34-year-old is out of contract at the end of June, but it remains to be seen whether manager Ross Wilson can persuade him to sign a new contract.

He has been an important player for Newcastle United since joining them in 2018 and could continue to be very useful to Newcastle United. Newcastle need a leader like him in their dressing room if they want to build a quality team for the future.

The 34-year-old could also enjoy the opportunity to continue playing in the Premier League. At this stage of his career, it seems unlikely that he will get many opportunities at the highest level. It would make sense for him to continue in a new castle where he is valued as both a player and a leader.

Howe approves contract negotiations with Schaal

Meanwhile, Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has confirmed that extension talks are underway between the club and the player’s agent and wants the 34-year-old defender to stay.

“I’ve had several conversations with Faby,” Howe said Friday. “Discussions are currently taking place with Ross (Wilson) and (Schar’s) representatives and we hope to reach a successful conclusion.

“Unfortunate. Yes, we want Fabian to stay. I think he has a lot of potential. I think we’ve missed him since he got hurt. We missed his distribution and the deep pass was a big mistake for us. The way he accelerates our attack. The way he accelerates our attack is the way he accelerates our attack.”

“We weren’t going to keep a player that we didn’t think could contribute to the team. I think Fabian has been an incredible asset for us. It’s not over until he’s signed, but we feel he still has a lot to offer.”

Newcastle have had a disappointing season and need quality players to stay if they are to bounce back next year.
