Leeds United are currently considering a surprise move for their ‘sensational’ relegated player as West Ham United could be forced to make a cash move this summer.
Jermaine Beckford tells Leeds to sign new forward
Leeds favorite Jermaine Beckford has now outlined two positions that Daniel Farke needs to strengthen, with the former striker suggesting the manager needs to work to improve his attacking options.
Mr Beckford said: “I think we need a creative player, someone who can play in the number 10 role. Someone like Harry Wilson or Harvey Elliott, who can play between the lines and create opportunities for the strikers.”
“And we need another number nine to really push Dom and Lucas to the next level. But look, there’s also an argument that you can strengthen every position. That’s the way the Premier League works. You want what’s best for your club and the only way to get what’s best for your club is to always improve.”
Wilson would be a bargain addition to Farke’s side as the winger’s Fulham contract expires this summer, but the door could also be open for Elliott, with Liverpool willing to allow a sale.
However, with the Whites also eyeing a raid on West Ham following their relegation from the Premier League, an alternative option has come into play.
Leeds plan surprise move for ‘sensational’ star
According to a report from Sports Boom, Leeds are currently planning a surprise move for West Ham star Chrisencio Somerville, who could move this summer as his current employers need to let go of some key players due to their poor financial situation.
Somerville, who was sold to West Ham for £25m at the end of the 2023-24 season after Farke’s side narrowly missed out to Southampton in the play-off final, is “unlikely” to aspire to play in the second tier next season.
“Several executives” at Elland Road are keen to re-sign the Dutchman, with Farke, who is known to be a big fan, saying:Crisencio is a baller and I actually enjoy watching him. This is why we all come to the stadium. Because when you see a player like him touching the ball, it warms your heart. ”
The Rotterdam-born winger was hailed as “sensational” by scout Jacek Kulig during his time in the Championship, and impressed despite West Ham’s relegation from the Premier League.
Crisencio Somerville’s Premier League season
31 appearances
5 goals
4 assists
1.9 successful dribbles per 90

1 Player of the Match Award
Somerville, who was recently named in the Netherlands squad for the World Cup, has shown he is worthy of another shot at the Premier League, but a move will likely be controversial given that he jumped ship after being eliminated in the play-off final.
