Tottenham Hotspur, who are in danger of being relegated, are under pressure to take decisive action in the summer transfer window, and have already confirmed the signing of three players.
Romano announces major updates for Tottenham and Senesi
To say it’s been a great summer for Tottenham would be an understatement. They have to get things right if Roberto De Zerbi is to lead them back into European competition and away from the drop zone.
The people of north London are also well aware of the challenges ahead of them. Club chief Peter Charrington acknowledged in a letter to supporters that the past two seasons had been unacceptable, saying: “We didn’t have the right expertise in key roles. We couldn’t build a team good enough to compete in the most demanding league in the world.
“A second consecutive 17th place finish is unacceptable. We are not going to gloss over it other than to say we fell well short of the expectations of this club.”
He’s like Spurs’ Modric: Tottenham move to sign £35m midfielder
Tottenham Hotspur have avoided relegation and are moving forward with their transfer plans.
But with that failure in mind, north Londoners have already begun planning to welcome reinforcements this summer. Andy Robertson has already been signed, and manager Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Spurs have signed Marcos Senesi following the end of his contract with Bournemouth.
The Lilywhites have reportedly reached an agreement to bring in the defender in another significant step towards De Zerbi’s first full season in charge. But that’s not the end.
According to TeamTalk, Spurs leaders have approved the permanent signing of Joao Parinha.
The midfielder could already become the club’s third signing, with ENIC having a busy start to the summer and Parinha desperate to make the move permanent.
“What I can tell you is that I really want to be here and I’m really enjoying this season, even though it’s been a tough season for this club.”
Why Parinha justified his permanent move from Spurs
News of a potential permanent move for Parinha should be music to everyone’s ears at Tottenham. The midfielder took some time to impress fans, but his place in the history books will forever be etched by his goal on the final day against Everton that secured the club’s place in the Premier League.
If that’s not enough to justify a permanent transfer, it’s not much. The Bayern Munich man has proven to be one of the consistent names on the team sheet, despite arriving at De Zerbi after the club welcomed and sacked Thomas Frank and Igor Tudor.
All current signs point to Parinha becoming a permanent Spurs player. It will be up to the club to negotiate to get the deal with Bayern over the line.
