Curtis Jones has been linked with a move away from Liverpool at the end of this season.
Italian champions Inter Milan are aiming to sign the 25-year-old, but it remains to be seen whether Liverpool are prepared to allow him to leave.
The midfielder struggled to get regular minutes last season, but Liverpool made a managerial change. Arne Slott has been sacked by Liverpool, but it remains to be seen whether the new manager is prepared to give him a key role in the team.
There is no doubt that he is a quality player and has contributed immensely to Liverpool over the years. It may have been a mistake to sell him. Liverpool are already lacking depth in midfield and keeping the versatile midfielder at the club should be a priority for them.
According to a report by SportWitness, the player’s transfer fee could be around 30 million euros. Inter Milan certainly have the financial wherewithal to make a deal, and the technically gifted star will help the team grow. He can play multiple roles and his versatility will be an added bonus.
Jones currently has one year left on his contract with Liverpool. Even if the Reds were able to convince him to sign a new deal, it would be difficult for the Italian to do so.
Liverpool will not want to lose a player of his quality on a free next summer. If the midfielder decides not to extend his contract with the club, the Premier League would be wise to sell him.
Jones needs regular minutes at this stage of his career and Liverpool will need to offer him a key role in the team to keep him at the club.
