In yet another shocking move this week, the Los Angeles released one of their longest-running players, Chris Taylor.

The move began to feel like a possibility after the decided on DFA Austin Burns on Wednesday, but came to reality on Sunday before the series finale with the Los Angeles Angels.

A new chapter for the has officially launched and has earned it a top priority for the franchise. Baseball business president Andrew Friedman addressed the media before Sunday’s matchup with the Angels.

During the session he spoke about the organization’s decision to say goodbye to two World Series champions and the 2017 NLCS Co-MVP.

“This has been a very emotional week for all of us,” Friedman said (click here for the video). “Barnesy and CT were in the midst of a big moment for this organization. Both people have left an indelible mark in our culture and where we are at this point, so it was extremely difficult to decide.

“The conversation was tough, but where we were, the division race, the roster competition, everything. I felt this was the ‘ biggest concern.

The traded Taylor from the Seattle Mariners before the 2016 MLB trade deadline. It took Taylor a while for him to make his name for himself with the , but once he did it he was unforgettable.

For nearly a decade, Taylor represented the heart and hustle of the and was crucial in shaping his team into what it is today. During more than nine seasons in Los Angeles, he appeared in over 1,000 games and posted a .250/.330/.431 slash line with .761 OPS. He recorded 108 home runs, 423 RBIs, 790 hits and 480 runs over the appearance of 3,562 plates.

In a corresponding move, the activated 2024 NLCS MVP Tommy Edman. Edman was on the 10-day injury list after fine-tuning his right ankle, but he recovered more slowly than expected. He is finally healthy and ready to contribute to the team that is currently leading the National League West.

Before the injury, Edman reduced .252/.295/.523 on eight home runs with the appearance of 122 plates before the injury.
