        • Oliver Glasner set to take up new job at elite club after leaving Crystal Palace

There has been progress in Crystal Palace’s search for an “incredible” manager, with talks expected to begin early this week.

Palace still searching for Oliver Glasner’s successor

When Andoni Iraola announced his intention to leave AFC Bournemouth, the Cherries wasted little time in finding a replacement, and although they agreed a deal with Marco Rose near the end of April, Palace are still looking for a replacement for Glasner.

Steve Parish wants to appoint Iraola, with the Spaniard having helped Bournemouth qualify for the Europa League, but he wants to join Liverpool, meaning the chairman has been forced to move on to other goals.

Sean Dyche has been identified as a target, with the 54-year-old having extensive Premier League experience having spent time at Everton, Burnley and Nottingham Forest.

But it may not be the most exciting appointment for Dyche, who was sacked less than four months after taking charge of the Tricky Trees and has made a name for himself as a manager more than capable of fighting relegation.

Pierre Sarge was also named as a target for the Eagles on Sunday, and while the Eagles were said to be considering a move, a promising update has been released regarding the signing of coach RC Lens.

Latest news on Crystal Palace’s signing of Pierre Sarge

According to a report from BBC Sport, Crystal Palace were due to hold talks with Sage earlier this week, but have apparently missed out on signing Iraola, who is due to hold formal talks to replace Liverpool’s Arne Slott.

Interestingly, the 47-year-old is said to be open to a move to Selhurst Park and talks with Palace officials are expected to take place soon, but Parish does not want to rush into making a decision.

There are still a number of other executives available to replace Mr. Glassner, and the chairman intends to bide his time rather than rush to make an appointment.

However, the Lens boss has the most impressive career win rate of all potential targets.

Additionally, the 47-year-old had an outstanding 2025/26 season with Reims, helping them win the French Cup for the first time in the club’s history, while also securing a second-place finish, just six points behind Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain.

Nemanja Matic also praised the Frenchman’s work at Lyon, saying: “Pierre is someone you don’t have any problems with. He’s a really honest guy and a great human being. At the professional level, he’s a great coach and I included his staff, which was better than anything I’ve had in my career. They did a great job and we had a good relationship, so it was a pleasure.”
