        • He’s better than Diomande: Liverpool hold talks to sign ‘superstar’ for £130m

From the moment FSG decided to sack Arne Slott, it was clear that Liverpool intended to push for Andoni Iraola after his contract with Bournemouth expired.

It’s something of a gamble, but if it works out, Liverpool will return to the “rock’n’roll” football that came to define manager Jurgen Klopp’s glorious nine-year reign. This is how Iraola describes his approach, something entirely different from the slow, calculated football that Slott instilled.

Iraola is unique but adaptable and has fought hard to reach the pinnacle of this career. Now, FSG needs to thoroughly back him up with impactful reinforcements.

FSG has a lot to iron out over the next few months. Right-back also remains a concern, with Michael Edwards and sporting director Richard Hughes unable to reach an agreement with Ibrahima Konate, who leaves on a free transfer (ostensibly to Real Madrid).

However, Mohamed Salah’s departure means Liverpool urgently need a new right-winger, with FSG prioritizing signing one attacker over others.

Fabrizio Romano says Liverpool are in talks with Yann Diomande’s camp, but RB Leipzig’s competition for the forward will be difficult as Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich are also in pursuit.

Romano said: “Liverpool are in negotiations, certainly in talks, and PSG are also in talks with the player’s camp. The battle has begun. Diomande is very high on the list of Liverpool and PSG. I can say that the player’s desire is to conclude the contract quickly before the start of the World Cup so that Diomande can go to the World Cup without thinking twice. They will try to accelerate the contract before the World Cup. It depends.” Leipzig, it’s never easy to negotiate with them, but Liverpool and PSG are both working on it. ”

The £87m-rated right-winger is only 19 years old but is one of the most talented players in the world and has previously linked his desire to move to Anfield.

If Liverpool can pull it off, it could give Iraola the perfect new focus in attack. Iraola is someone who can take on the role that Eli Junior Crupi has played so calmly over the past year.

Why can Diomande become Iraora’s new Kurupi?

The 19-year-old Crupi has risen to prominence under Iraola this season, but signing him could prove a bit difficult once the Cherries qualify for Europe.

Instead, Liverpool could happily pursue a deal for Diomand, with FSG even hoping to finalize a deal before the start of next week’s World Cup.

The teenager has scored 13 goals and provided 10 assists for Leipzig this season, with Liverpool journalist Bence Boxak saying: “At any cost, he’s a superstar. He’s worth every penny.”

It is remarkable that he achieved so much in such a short period of time. In some ways, this is a lot like Crupi in the Premier League. The French talent arrived from Ligue 2 side Lorient last summer and finished the league campaign with 13 goals. He only missed three big chances.

But with Salah gone, Liverpool need to throw the kitchen sink in order to bring in a new right-winger who can lead Liverpool’s line for years to come, and who has a maverick and unpredictable talent.

This season in the Bundesliga, Diomande has created 17 big chances, won 5.6 duels and averaged 3.6 successful dribbles per game. It’s hard to see how this skillset doesn’t translate smoothly to Premier League football, especially for an Iraola coach who has shown he can tap into exciting talent and turn them into a force to be reckoned with.

The potential is limitless, and it’s worth noting that Diomande is also comfortable playing on the left. Iraora did the same thing, so it could be used to an emphatic effect.

There’s a reason why PSG, the best team of our time, are so interested in Diomande. There is also reason to believe he holds the key to Liverpool maximizing their attacking potential.

Iraola has already shown through Crupi and Antoine Semenyo that he can develop exciting talents into superstars, and now he could do the same with Liverpool’s Diomande.
