In the 65th minute, Eriksen suddenly fell to the grass, clutching his chest, and the match was stopped.

Medical personnel quickly rushed to the pitch and grieving teammates formed a protective ring around the 34-year-old.

At this point, Denmark was leading 2-1, so officials immediately decided to cancel the match.

Medical update confirms Eriksen is conscious and recovering.

Fortunately, a quick official medical update brought much-needed relief. The Danish Football Federation confirmed that the midfielder quickly regained consciousness and was able to stand up and walk to the ambulance.

“Christian is doing well,” team doctor Morten Bosen said.

“From what I can see, the pacemaker seems to have responded normally. He briefly lost consciousness, but we were able to contact him immediately. He will now undergo further tests at the hospital to determine the cause of the accident.”
