Nottingham Forest and Tottenham Hotspur have been given a big boost in the race to sign the Serie A midfielder ahead of AC Milan this summer.

Nottingham Forest and Tottenham compete for midfielder

With both teams barely escaping relegation last season, it’s no surprise that Nottingham Forest and Tottenham are in a close battle in this summer’s transfer window.

Forest will be keen to return to the heights of the 24/25 season, which saw them qualify for the Europa League. They underwent a harsh reality test last season, leading to three managerial changes before Evangelos Marinakis put his full faith in Vitor Pereira.

They could hijack Brentford’s move.

Tricky Trees look set to be as busy as ever in the transfer market as they look to rebuild. This could lead to the signing of a player like Said El Mara, and there are rumors that he could take over Brentford’s move in the process.

As for Spurs, they have already hit the headlines several times this summer by bringing in Andy Robertson and agreeing a deal to sign Marcos Senesi, who left Bournemouth as a free agent at the end of the season. But Lilywhite doesn’t stop there. They are currently in the race to move one place ahead of Forest and bring in their midfield star.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, relayed by Sport Witness, Atalanta are ready to let Raul Bellanova go to Tottenham or Nottingham Forest this summer rather than AC Milan.

The right midfielder has struggled with injuries over the past 12 months, resulting in the Serie A side giving the green light for a €20 million transfer fee, which Milan may not be able to afford. This gives both Premier League sides the opportunity to finalize a deal on short notice, which should become a regular deal in the coming months.

£17m Bellanova should choose Forest over Tottenham

The ball is now in Bellanova’s court as Atalanta prepare to sell. He must decide whether to push to stay in Serie A or take a chance on the Premier League. If he chooses the latter, Nottingham Forest should be his first choice.

Tricky Trees have been looking for quality from the wides since the departure of Anthony Elanga and are not used to Serie A talent. There is a chance for anyone to step up, including Bellanova.

After a difficult year in Italy, where he started just 15 league games, the versatile right midfielder will join Pereira at the City Ground.

It is also worth noting that Bellanova, at full fitness in the 2024/25 season, recorded 11 assists in all competitions. It is clear that he has that quality, even if Atalanta believe that it has been lost due to injuries over the past 12 months. For £17m, Forest should take a gamble.
